“Thought is the blossom, language the bud, action the fruit behind it.” (Ralph Waldo Emerson)
Everyone needs fresh fruit and veg, and kids benefit hugely from healthy eating. We were shocked to see children on TV recently who didn’t realise that a tomato grew on a vine, and had no idea what broccoli was. So we’re always delighted to get involved with fresh fruit and veg for schools.
School dinners have been the subject of a great deal of debate over the past couple of years. They’ve been slated by celebrities, politicians and parents alike for being unhealthy, fatty and pitifully low on the green stuff. But things are changing. School catering companies have taken the bull by the horns.
How do we come into the equation? We deliver wonderfully fresh fruit and veg for schools, right to their doorstep, six days a week, making 5 a day fruit and veg easier to achieve.
Everyone knows how hard it can be to get children to eat fresh fruit and veg. We believe that healthy eating should be an adventure. Kids love weird, freaky and silly stuff, and the internet’s the perfect place to hunt down facts and figures about fruit and veg that’ll make their interest in healthy stuff light up.
Take bananas. Did you know that banana plants are the world’s biggest herbs, from the same family as orchids? Or that, in 2001, there were more than 300 banana skin-related accidents reported in the UK? Today’s eco-aware kids will also be pleased to know that we support UK growers wherever humanly possible.
School caterers find us friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. No surprise really, since we’ve been doing this for almost a century. We’re a big, successful family business and we know our fruit and veg inside out.
